The paid directory listings section contains reviews of various paid directories to which I have submitted this or my client's sites. I am just starting to add new paid directory reviews of directories I recommend. Most of the directories listed here were previously reviewed in the Free Directory Listings section, but have since switched to a pay only service and therefore move here (they are noted as such since I probably wouldn't pay to be listed in some of them).
This page is a continual work in progress and your suggestions/experiences are appreciated.

Although this article is focused on free directories, the listing and editorial guidelines are pretty much the same. Submission Fee: What is the charge for inclusion or review (some
directories still charge you, even if your submission is rejected). If the
directory has multiple submission options, the details will be in the review and
the Submission Fee field will list the price range.
Static Link: Is the link static (passes PageRank™) or redirected
(type of redirect)? §
PR™: What is the PageRank™ of the directory's home page? Green background denotes a PR1 or better on
interior pages two levels down (note: some sites do not show interior PR on the Google Toolbar, but they do an various PR Tools).
Register: Are you required to register or submit an email address?
Time Frame: Actual time for a verified submission or

time frame, if this site is not listed yet.
DL: Does the directory allow submission of interior pages (Deep Linking)?

Go Guides - a highly respected human edited general directory thought to be considered an authority site by Google. Go Guides has very detailed submission guidelines which they actually seem to follow. My title and description received minor edits. They do rate websites with little people icons. I believe 3 little people is the best. My site was submitted via the Express Review service and received a 2 little people rating. They notify via email of your acceptance.
There is a volunteer editor program that I have not found the details for yet. I will check further and advise when I find something.

Best of the Web! - is one of the original web directories. It is a quality, human edited, general directory with good interior PageRank and select listings. * They offer an annual review price of $79.95 and a lifetime review price of $239.95. Your inclusion is not guaranteed and your review fee is not refundable. They confirm your submission and notify you of the review outcome.
I submitted my resource directory to test deep linking and it was accepted in two days and in their index in 3 days.
Update: 09/01/06: Best of the Web has raised their one year submission fee to $69.95, from $49.95. The lifetime option remains the same price.
Update 2: 08/01/07: Best of the Web has increased their one-year submission fee to $79.95 from $69.95. They have also increased their lifetime option to $239.95 from $149.95.

is a free blog directory that
accompanies their main directory above. They
have excellent interior PageRank and they appear to be very selective. Their
Express Blog Submit option guarantees review within 3 business days (not
acceptance) They notify you of your
acceptance via email.

Update: 11/19/06: BOTW has added an BOTW Blog Directory Express Submit Service for $39.95 one-time review fee to get your blog submission reviewed "quickly". This appears to be a non-guaranteed review. They also state this is for people that don't want to wait a month or two. Apparently the review time frame is getting longer.
Update 2: 08/01/07: Apparently BOTW Blog Directory has dropped their free submission option. Therefore, this directory was moved to paid from the free listings.

Greenstalk.com - is now a paid directory with an interesting twist. They allow you to add your main listing + 4 interior page text links, all for only $9 one time fee.
They also have a package deal where you can submit to Greenstalk and 9 other directories for $49.95. I did not see this option until I processed my $9 order. I briefly checked out the other directories and they look good (most of them have strong PR, different IP Class C blocks, not too many listings on a page, and all have static links). I submitted to all of the directories and was listed in one day. They did not advise me of my listings. I will also individually review each directory when I get a chance. The other directories are listed below.
Update: 08/28/05: This directory no longer accepts free submissions and was therefore moved here.
Update 2: 10/22/05: ( + ) Home page PageRank increased from 5 to 6.
Update 3: 02/18/06: ( - ) PageRank has been decreased from 6 to 5.
Update 4: 04/03/06: I contacted the site's owner to ask if they were still offering the multiple directory submission option and they said, yes they were, plus they are offering the 5 links (home + 4 deep links) on all their directories now.

Anews4U Business Directory - A business directory that was formerly free. The site states, "All payments are Non-Refundable (only £7 per submission). Payment doesn't guarantee the listing if doesn't comply with our Submission Guideline". There is not any submission time frame on their site.
Update: About 06/01/05, this directory has discontinued it's free listings and was moved here.
Update 2: 01/23/06: This directory doesn't have any listings in any categories! There used to be listings.
Update 3: 02/18/06: ( - ) The PageRank has been decreased from 4 to 3 and there still are not any listings in this directory.

Easy Eraser Pro Directory - a general directory, without search function, offering several paid submission options, ranging from a one time express submission of $5 to $5 per year to $50 per month for premium listings. They also have a multi-directory submission option for 35 directories for a $135 one time fee (based on their express submission option).
Their submission time frame is stated as "...spots are subject to availability. Express spots are setup in 24-72 hours". They will notify you of your submission status.
Update: This directory permanently discontinued accepting free submissions and will continue as a paid only directory. Therefore, it was moved here. I was reviewed and listed in 9 days when it was free.
Update 2: PageRank™ increased from 1 to 2 on 07/14/05.
Update 3: 10/22/05: This directory is not available at present. I will check again and advise.

Big All - BigAll.com features a directory, shopping, and
online tools. They offer a "Premium" submission process for $9.95
$14.95. Submissions are reviewed in 3 business days and will refund your
fee if you are not accepted. They will notify you of your acceptance
via email. This site was submitted on 03/28/05 (when this was a free
directory) and never listed.
Update: 07/24/05: Per info.vilesilencer's update, this directory no longer offers free listings and has raised the "Premium" submission service to $14.95.
Update 2: 02/18/06: ( - ) PageRank has been decreased from 6 to 5 with mixed PR on several datacenters.
Update 3: 07/13/06: ( - ) PageRank decreased from 5 to 0, but the site is still indexed in Google.

G, Y!, M - (IBL Shown) Denotes search engine shows directory as a back link to either this or a client's site. G = Google, Y! = Yahoo!, and M = MSN. Note: Yahoo! is known to show the largest sample of back links, Google only shows a very small sample and MSN shows something in between. The fact the an IBL (inbound back link) is not shown in Google or MSN is not very significant.
§ - There is some debate on whether a 302 scripted redirect passes PageRank™.

Directory home page Toolbar PageRank™ updated as of 09/28/06. (Note: There are a small percentage of datacenters that are showing the PageRank from the 07/13/06 export, so I am using the "majority view." I was waiting to see if the datacenters would all align, so I am actually making this update on 11/19/06, but dating the PR to 09/28/06.)
Effective 10/20/05, I am adding a + or - to the PR value and the update note so it's easier to see which direction the directories PageRank is moving. If there is not a + or -, there isn't any change from the previous PR export.
