Paid Directory Listings

Updated: November 19, 2006.

The paid directory listings section contains reviews of various paid directories to which I have submitted this or my client's sites. I am just starting to add new paid directory reviews of directories I recommend. Most of the directories listed here were previously reviewed in the Free Directory Listings section, but have since switched to a pay only service and therefore move here (they are noted as such since I probably wouldn't pay to be listed in some of them).

This page is a continual work in progress and your suggestions/experiences are appreciated.

I posted a short article at my blog on Free Directory Listings 101, a "How To" guide with tips to get your free directory listing accepted on the first try.  Although this article is focused on free directories, the listing and editorial guidelines are pretty much the same. Key to listings:

Submission Fee:  What is the charge for inclusion or review (some directories still charge you, even if your submission is rejected).  If the directory has multiple submission options, the details will be in the review and the Submission Fee field will list the price range.
Static Link:  Is the link static (passes PageRank™) or redirected (type of redirect)? §
PR™: What is the PageRank™ of the directory's home page? Green background denotes a PR1 or better on interior pages two levels down (note: some sites do not show interior PR on the Google Toolbar, but they do an various PR Tools).
Register:  Are you required to register or submit an email address?
Time Frame:  Actual time for a verified submission or site stated time frame, if this site is not listed yet.
DL: Does the directory allow submission of interior pages (Deep Linking)?
IBL Shown: Does search engines show back links from this directory (see notes below).

Paid Directories: Moved here from free directory listings:

OneStop Online Shopping Directory - Free Submission, No Reciprocal Required, #1 Online Shopping Directory.  That is their suggested link text.  They state that, if you link back to them, they will review your submission within 48 hours.  They notify you of their site review by email.  I submitted when they still had free listings and I linked back to them and was approved in 48 hours.  They offer 3 paid submission offers via their "Add URL" link.

• Regular Submission (One time fee, Life Time listing) for $10.00
• Deep Link Submission (One time fee, Life Time listing) for $25.00
• Main Category Submission (One time fee, Life Time listing) for $50.00

Update:  This directory no longer accepts free submissions

UltiSearch Web Directory - is a general directory that offers a "Priority Listing" which costs usually costs £10 and is not refundable if you are not accepted, but they guarantee a 7 business day review process.

Update: 12/03/05: This directory was move here from free when they stopped accepting free listings. They are also having a special until 12/31/05, their "Priority Listing" for £7.

Update 2: 02/18/06: ( - ) PageRank has been decreased from 5 to 4. This directory is only one level deep, but shows interior PR on the listing pages.

SEO Friendly Directory - a general directory from the folks at Deep-Directory. They also have a rating function that can effect your rankings if the user searches by rating.  They also have a "Sponsored Listing" classification for £1.50 per month.

This directory is in a separate Class C IP block than Deep-Directory.  I submitted this site with a link back when it was free and it was listed in 1 day.  They notify you via email when you are listed.

Update: PageRank™ increased from 0 to 2 on 07/14/05

Update 2: 10/22/05: ( + ) Home page PageRank increased from 2 to 3

Update 3: 02/18/06: ( + ) PageRank has increased from 3 to 4.

Update 3: 03/18/06: Directory has become paid only and was moved from free listings. They now charge a £2.00 one-time listing fee.

Bhanvad.com - A general directory that states "Your URL will be visible in our directory with no time limit Guarantee or any Guarantee at all. Your URL will be visible in 24 hours with payment of $ 20 guarantee. If we don't add your URL than we will refund your money."  I submitted this site on 04/12/05 and will advise on progress.

Update: My site has not been listed in this directory so I checked Info.vilesilencer and they report that this directory no longer accepts free submissions.  The site still says they do, but when I tried to submit to any category it did not list the correct category, they all defaulted to "Computer and Internet/Internet/".  I sent them an email requesting clarification on their submission policy (07/12/05).

Update 2: 07/14/05: PageRank™ reduced from 5 to 4

Update 3: 12/03/05: This directory currently resolves to an "Account Suspended" page. I will check it again later.

Update 4: 01/22/06: The site is functional again (probably happened before today, but I hadn't checked)

Update 5: 05/21/06: Since this directory still defaults free listings to "Computer and Internet/Internet/" category, it appears they are not accepting free submissions. Therefore, they have been moved to paid directories.

Salt List : Web Directory of General Websites - is a new free directory that I saw mentioned at Digital Point Forums. There is not any submission time frame listed on their site. They offer a few submission options:

• Featured Listing and Sponsorship: gives you a higher listing = $25 for 6 months
• Regular Listing: $5 one time fee
• Free Listing with Reciprocal Link: $5 with a link back gives your listing a higher position

I posted my questions in the forum thread at DP for clarification. I submitted my Free Directory Listings page with a link back. * The directory owner stated their acceptance of "deep links" depends on the resource submitted. They accepted my deep link.

Update: 05/21/06: This directory has changed to paid only and therefore, is moved here to paid.

Update 2: 07/13/06: ( + ) PageRank has increased from 0 to 4, but still is not showing interior PR.

Update 3: 09/28/06: They are now showing interior PR

SEO Friendly Web Directory - is a general directory that also lists you under a geographical category, so you get two listings. They have three paid submission options:

• Basic Submission - $5US. One off payment, Basic submissions will be added within 7 days.
• Express Submission - $10US. One off payment, with a guaranteed 48 hour review time.
• Sponsored Listing - $25US per annum. Featured above the standard & express listings with guaranteed 48 hour review time.

They do not notify you of your acceptance. I can't find any reference to deep linking since they changed to paid.

I submitted my site on 02/19/06, but was not listed before switching to paid.

Update: 05/21/06: This directory has changed to paid and therefore, moved here.

Absolute Directory - Free linking to quality sites. That is their requested link txt. This is a general directory that does not state a review time frame on their site. The say they will notify you once you link is validated (whatever that means).

This site does something a bit different.  Your main listing with your anchor text links to a separate "detailed" page (via a static link) that shows your site's Alexa information and then links to your site with a link that includes "visit" followed by your anchor text.  The is also a rate this site feature. This arrangement will probably prevent the "detailed" page from gaining and thus passing any PageRank to you.

I submitted an interior page on 09/10/05, when it was a free directory and was not accepted. I don't plan to submit to the paid directory.

Update: 02/18/06: ( + ) Their PageRank has increased from 4 to 5.

Update 2: 07/31/06: Directory has become paid only and moved here from free lisitngs.

Site-Lister - Is a general directory that offers free listings, free listings with a link back and a paid $5 Featured Link three paid options. $2 listing with a reciprocal link, $5 regular listing and $10 featured listing. They appear to accept deep links. They track traffic to their site and you can sort the listings alphabetically (default), by hits and PageRank. There is not a time frame stated on their site.  I submitted this site with a link back on 10/08/05, when it was a free directory, and I was not accepted. I don't plan to submit to the paid directory.

Update: 10/22/05: ( + ) Home page PageRank increased from 2 to 3

Update 2: 08/04/06: Directory has become pay only and therefore was moved here.

Best Seo Solutions - is a general directory which offers 3 submission options: Regular with reciprocal ($1.99), Regular ($4.99) and Featured Link ($9.99)(all one time fees). The site states that all submissions are reviewed in less than 24 hours.

There are some deep linked pages listed, but I submitted my blog based on the number of submissions in certain categories. My submission was when this directory was free and accepted in 29 days.

Update: 07/13/06: ( + ) PageRank increased from 3 to 4

Update 2: 08/13/06: This directory was moved here from paid.

TheHyperLinks.com - is a human edited general directory. They offer three paid options "Featured links in category" for $15 one-time fee. They also have a regular listing for $6 one-time fee and a $2 link with a reciprocal link back (one-time?? doesn't say on site).

I submitted my Free Directory Listings (interior page - since I am giving a reciprocal link) and I appeared in their directory in about 5 hours, but they haven't notified my by email yet (they said the do notify). Note: This was when directory had free options.

Update: 12/11/05: They have changed their business model to primarily a paid directory. They still offer a free listing in return for reciprocal link, but they have also raised their submission fees to $3 (one-time fee) for a regular listing and $10 (one-time fee) for a "Featured links in category and appear randomly on the homepage". I'm kind of surprised they switched so soon. Most directories wait until they have some visible Toolbar PageRank, but I guess when you get to a certain submission level, it makes sense. This is why I tell you to get in early on these directories.

Update 2: 12/11/05: Peter, the directory's owner just announced, "Buy one get one regular link get one free offer, 15 days only".

Update 3: 02/18/06: ( + ) Their PageRank has increased from 0 to 4

Update 4: 08/13/06: This directory has dropped it's last free option and was moved here to paid. Also, I just noticed that they do not have any interior PR at this time.

Link Alliance Website Directory - is a general directory and I don't particularly like the name because it sounds sort of like a FFA. They offer two listing options: Standard ($19.95) and Premium ($39.95) with stated 24 hour review (refundable). They have a rating system where visits can rate your site (this may impact the listing order). They also have a "details" page which gives you an additional link.

* They do not allow deep linking (with the possible exception of blog sub directories). I submitted my blog and was listed in 5 weeks when it was free.

Update: 08/13/06: This site dropped it's free option and was moved to paid.

Pride Creations - is a human edited general directory that offers one paid submission option for a one time fee of $24 They will accept deep links.

I submitted my free directory listings section and was accepted in 1 day, when the directory was free.

Notes:

G, Y!, M - (IBL Shown) Denotes search engine shows directory as a back link to either this or a client's site. G = Google, Y! = Yahoo!, and M = MSN. Note: Yahoo! is known to show the largest sample of back links, Google only shows a very small sample and MSN shows something in between.  The fact the an IBL (inbound back link) is not shown in Google or MSN is not very significant.

§ - There is some debate on whether a 302 scripted redirect passes PageRank™, but due to possible problems the directories that use 302 redirects have been moved to "Duds".

Directory home page Toolbar PageRank™ updated as of 09/28/06. (Note: There are a small percentage of datacenters that are showing the PageRank from the 07/13/06 export, so I am using the "majority view." I was waiting to see if the datacenters would all align, so I am actually making this update on 11/19/06, but dating the PR to 09/28/06.)

Effective 10/20/05, I am adding a + or - to the PR value and the update note so it's easier to see which direction the directories PageRank is moving. If there is not a + or -, there isn't any change from the previous PR export.
