SEO Friendly List Updated

Dan, at info.vilesilencer.com has updated his SEO Friendly List to reflect the status change of several free directories to a pay for inclusion model, that I told you about a while ago. My Free Directory Listings reviews have already been updated. I have also added a Paid Directory Listings reviews page to list the free directories that were previously reviewed before switching to pay only. I will be developing this resource over time. Please send me your recommendations for good paid directories.

Dan also points out that http://www.add-link.info/ (see review top of page 3) will soon be switching to a pay only model. So get listed now before you have to pay.

I would also like to thank Bob Mutch for his great list of Free Directories and for pointing out that some of these free directories share a common Class C IP block. I am in the process of denoting the directories on shared IPs, to assist you in your linking strategies.

I have added several new free directories to my reviews and updated the status on others. As I said in my last post, I am submitting other client sites to continue the review process. I need your feedback to keep this an accurate view of the current status of these free directories.

That's it for now. Check back soon for more free directory updates. You can subscribe to this blog, via bloglet in the right sidebar, to receive notification of new posts. You can also subscribe through the various feeds on the right.

PS. It seems that lots of blogs posted about and were looking for info on blogger's newest code gift = (div style="CLEAR: both"). We received a lot of traffic from technorati and I saw several other blogs posting with a basic, "What the f*ck is blogger doing to my blog"? Anyone that has an update, please let me know. This still really irks me since the page will not validate now and I have taken great care to keep this site's valid. mp

Free Directory Listings - We're #1 at MSN

Hello all,

Free Directory Listings is starting to get some real attention! ;-)

My reviews' resource got a huge boost when SEM training guru Robin Nobles, my original teacher (thanks Robin - she's fantastic), gave me a great plug with her Workshop Resource Center members and students. Then with the new MSN algorithm update, the Free Directory Listings reviews jumped to #1 at MSN.

To keep these reviews current and accurate, I am continuing to systematically submit client sites, to gather the latest experience with the free directories. You can help me by sending me your experience with them too. Just click on my name below or use my contact form.

I am reviewing new directories each week, as I continue to build my link popularity. Links from some of these directories and a few quality sites, are starting to pay off in the search engines (except for Google, where I am still stuck in the litterbox, as a good friend likes to call it).

As always, feel free to comment below.

Have a great day!

martin

PS. I just noticed that blogger added some new code to their system (div style="CLEAR: both") which prevents this page from validating. I have battled their code in several areas, in the past, to make these pages compliant, but this one is beyond my control at this point, but I will look into it and contact blogger support when I get a chance.

Several Free Directories Switch to Pay Only

One of the largest providers of Free Directory Listings, overthemark.com has dropped their free submission option, in favor of an all paid business model. The 35 directories affected stopped accepting free listings last month "to clear their backlog of submissions". They implemented a express review submission option - "$5 reviewed in 24-72 hours", at that time. They were to resume free submission on June 15, 2005.

When queried about the status of resuming free submissions, owner Tanya Martin said, "Yes they are staying paid. I haven't finished updating all of our submission pages yet. But they all are staying paid".

I have only reviewed one of their directories, Easy Eraser Pro Directory. I was holding off on their others until they started accepting free submissions again. I will update my review to reflect this change and ultimately move that directory to a new paid directory listings review section. Although I am always sorry to see free directories switch to pay only, I wish Tanya well with her new endeavors.

While chatting recently with Dan, creator of the great SEO Friendly List, he mentioned that Anews4U Business Directory switched to pay for inclusion, a few weeks ago. I will update that review also. He will updating his great downloadable list next week, so make sure you get the latest revision.

I suppose it's inevitable for quality free directories, once they reach a certain mass, to discontinue their free submission options. If this trend continues, it will make it more expensive for the small site to gain some inbound links.

That's it for now. As always I want to hear from you via the comments below or by emailing me by clicking on my name.

Free Directory Listings Updated Again

I have been getting quite a few new visitors recently from Search Engine Workshops and the Workshop Resource Center (thanks for the plug Robin!) looking for my Free Directory Listings 101 "How To Get Listed" guide. That was the link if you wanted to see it.

Lots of things happening around here. This site just got listed in Google after a long delay (more on that later). I am in the process of updating the directory reviews to reflect the current listing situation and to reflect subsequent client listing experience. I will be adding more free directory listings as soon as I am done with this update.

I just bought seoElite and I am busy running all sorts of linking reports to see how my link building is really doing. It's a great program and I truly recommend it to anyone serious about linking strategies.

Part of the reason I am a bit behind with my duties here, is I am just finishing up the beta release phase of new site. Carnival Cruise Blog is a multi-user, multi-blog, online community for Carnival Cruise enthusiasts and it was a real challenge and a great learning experience (more on that later too).

That's it for now, as always I welcome your feedback via the comments below or email me by clicking on my name.
